I love Spring and Summer. When the first day of warm weather hits, I want to move on to spring and summer time freshness. I get my garden spot ready, I open the windows to enjoy the need change of the warmth and the bright sunshine.
One of my favorite ways to get ready for spring and summer is to diffuse some citrus oil blends and get my house smelling like the season. Citrus oils remind me of childhoods at the beach and playing outside all day.
Some other ways I get into the Spring and Summer mood is to do some Spring Cleaning. Essential oils can be used throughout your house to clean and freshen your house. I have enjoy using natural products for cleaning because I can let my son help me with our Spring Cleaning.
One of the first areas I use my “Spring Cleaning Fever” cleaning is my kitchen. During the winter months, my kitchen is used a lot, between the holiday baking and being stuck inside because of the winter cold. I like to get the winter out and the spring in.
Cleaning out the refrigerator and wiping it out with lemongrass or bergamot essential oils, mixed with water and baking soda will get your refrigerator nice and clean.
Also cleaning the trash can helps make your kitchen smell clean. I had never thought about cleaning my trash can, after all there is a bag in there to catch everything, until there was an odor and I just could not find it. I finally determined it was the trash can. I used the water and baking soda mixture that I cleaned my refrigerator with to clean the trash can. I have since made this a semi-annual cleaning, citrus oils in the spring and harvest blend in the fall.
Cleaning the bathrooms has always been my least favorite thing to do. But it is also one of the rooms that when cleaned can make my whole house smell good. I like to use lavender and tea tree essential oils in my bathroom and cedarwood and tea tree oil in my son’s bathroom. I mix the white vinegar, distilled water and 4 drops of each oil in my 16 oz spray bottle.
